« My host was very nice and accommodating, providing everything I needed. The language school was very nice, with excellent facilities. The activities were very good, with a good variety; they were very enjoyable overall. There was more direct contact with French and specific teaching helped to develop language, especially vocabulary. I loved walking round the ramparts of Carcassonne on the Saturday excursion and I enjoyed the experience of travelling alone, and learning a language. »

« My home stay was nicely placed in the suburbs, only a short walk and tram to the school; my host was delightful and extremely helpful. The activities and excursions were very fun and a great way to meet people and explore new places. In lessons there was more speaking and more interactive exercises and it was all better designed to get us to speak, which is not as common in the UK. I was always speaking French! »

« I participated in the Over 50 programme. I am a beginner French speaker. Accent Français (AF) assessed my skills well and placed me in a stimulating but pleasant environment where I learned a lot. My teacher was exceptional and made learning fun. The cultural programme guide was very useful, with recommendations for our free time and plans for enjoyable group outings. I intend to repeat the programme as often as possible. »

« I took a week-long intensive language course in Montpellier. It was far too short. The whole team was very friendly and helpful. The two teachers were super nice and very good. The lessons were very entertaining thanks to the interaction, discussions and explanations. We laughed, talked a lot, listened carefully, learned through language games, and I had a lot of fun and learned a lot. »

« It was an incredible three-month experience. When I arrived, my main goal was to improve my French, but during the process, I met many people from around the world, visited every corner of the beautiful city of Montpellier, went to all the city's activities (thanks to the school's recommendations) and, most importantly, enjoyed every moment of my stay! Accent Français will always be an important part of my life, and all the memories and skills I gained there are precious! THANK YOU SO MUCH! »

« Montpellier is the ideal city for a language stay! I spent four weeks at the language school Accent Français and really enjoyed my time in the sunny south of France. Why did I like Montpellier so much? The city is both lively and relaxing. It’s lively because, thanks to the university, there are many students. Overall, the city feels young and dynamic. In the old town, there seem to be hundreds of charming cafés, restaurants, and bars, most of them busy in the evenings. Yet the city also feels calm, without the hectic atmosphere of large cities. In the winding streets, you often come across small, unique shops, and the many squares and parks invite you to relax under the plane trees, whether at a café or on a bench. The city centre is largely pedestrian, with very few cars, and the city overall looks very clean (if you ignore the ever-present “leftovers” from our four-legged friends…). In the heart of the city, right across from the train station, lies the language school Accent Français. I attended the standard B2 course there for four weeks. My motivation? “Simply for pleasure.” The course was a very positive experience overall, and I benefited enormously from it. The teachers were very friendly, helpful and motivated. The fact that they change every 1–2 weeks has advantages and disadvantages, but the positive aspect is that you get to know different teaching personalities and methods. I also appreciated the diversity of the class — young and old, from all kinds of countries around the globe. Most students were very friendly and motivated, and I made several new acquaintances. The school also offers numerous and varied activities outside of class. I joined some classmates for a pétanque game in Parc du Peyrou, for example. Highly recommended! My whole language stay went perfectly. »

« Great teachers, motivated students of all ages and backgrounds, very friendly and always helpful staff at reception, and excellent communication in advance. Unfortunately, I was only there for a week, but I immediately felt very welcome. Excellent! »

« This has been the perfect experience for anyone ready to expand, stretch, and surprise themselves. If you want to open your mind, challenge your comfort zone, and push the edges of what’s possible, this is it. The school is exceptionally well-organized, with high-caliber, deeply committed teachers who clearly want you to succeed. Every aspect of the program reflects intention, professionalism, and care. I enrolled in the super-intensive five-week program and walked away with not only greater confidence speaking French but also a solid foundation to keep growing. I’ll definitely return for another immersion in 2026. And a special shout-out to my private tutor, David — on a scale of 1 to 10, he’s a 20. »

« As mature students in our mid 60s with variable levels of French, we chose Accent Francais in Montpellier since it offered 50+ activities for the first two weeks of our four week stay in October and early November, and the prospect of having a higher proportion of mature students in our classes. Over the course of the four weeks we received consistently high quality French teaching with engaging topics and relevant audio visual teaching materials, and energetic quality teachers. I was in the C1 class and my wife was in A2. My teacher was excellent. The mixture of young and older students was fine for us, and I think also for the young. The location was good with a third of the classes held very close to the main square and the main campus a few minutes further away. The facilities were fine. For us the class sizes were OK but the classrooms themselves were cramped at the maximum 12 students. The activities for students in general and for the 50+ were good. We enjoyed getting to know other mature students during the excursions and they were mostly well organised. The timing suffered a little through the unavoidable presence of some very slow walkers in the 50+ group. The mixture of activities in and outside Montpellier was fine. We stayed in an AirB&B in the centre of the old city, and thus did not need a car or public transport. It is a lively place with all the students, and we made use of the cinema and large municipal pool. To be recommended. We loved Montpellier and Accent Francais for welcoming us to France: warm and quiet enough in autumn to appreciate for longer the learning and cultural experiences on offer for older students of varying levels. The education is of a high standard. Note the school can get a bit crowded at times for some. We recommend it! »
