The Tramways of Montpellier

With 4 tramway lines, 84 stations and 56 km of track, the tramway serves 7 communes in the metropolitan area, representing 50% of the population and 45% of jobs.
The tram network operates every day of the year (except 1 May) from 4.30am to 1.30am (2.30am on Fridays and Saturdays).

Line 1

Opened in 2000, line 1 Mosson-Odysseum serves Montpellier from north to south over a distance of 15.7 km. It takes 50 minutes to link the two termini. It runs every day of the year (except 1 May), from 4.40 am (5.45 am on Sundays) to 1.30 am (2.30 am on Fridays and Saturdays).

The busiest line in the network!
Line 1 connects the Mosson, Hôpitaux-Facultés and Boutonnet districts with the city centre, including Antigone and Place de la Comédie, as well as Port Marianne, Millénaire and Odysseum, via 30 stations.

Line 1 trains are recognisable by their blue colour and swallows, designed by Elizabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti. Each station is named after one of the city's member municipalities.

Line 2

Line 2 opened in December 2006. It crosses the city from west to east, from Saint-Jean de Védas to Jacou. The 17.5 km journey takes 43 minutes. It runs every day of the year (except 1 May), from 4.55 am (5.45 am on Sundays) to 1.30 am (2.30 am on Fridays and Saturdays). Line 2 serves the towns of Jacou, Castelnau-le-Lez, Montpellier and Saint-Jean de Védas. In Montpellier, line 2 passes through the Aiguelongue, Beaux-Arts and Croix d'Argent districts, as well as the city centre, notably the Place de la Comédie. 28 stations transport almost 41,000 people a day.

Line 3

Since April 2012, line 3 has been serving the towns of Juvignac, Montpellier, Lattes and Pérols over a distance of 23 km. It takes almost 45 minutes to cover the route. It runs every day of the year (except 1 May), from 4.20 am (5.50 am on Sundays) to 1.45 am (2.45 am on Fridays and Saturdays). Line 3 serves the towns of Juvignac, Montpellier, Lattes and Pérols. In Montpellier, it passes through the Mosson, Cévennes, city centre and Port Marianne districts. There are 27 stations along the route, serving 50,000 people.

The design of line 3's trains evokes the maritime spirit and was imagined by Christian Lacroix.

Ligne 4

Created in April 2012 alongside line 3, line 4 serves the heart of Montpellier over a distance of 8.5 km. The journey between the two termini takes 32 minutes. It runs every day of the year (except 1 May), from 4.45 am (5.30 am on Saturdays and 6.20 am on Sundays) to 1.30 am (2.30 am on Fridays and Saturdays). Line 4 serves the heart of Montpellier, linking the central districts between Place Albert 1er and Place Saint-Denis: Saint Charles - Boutonnet - Les Beaux Arts - Les Aubes - Antigone - Consuls de mer - Aiguerelles - Saint-Martin - Nouveau Saint-Roch and Gambetta.

The golden dress on line 4 was designed by Christian Lacroix, who is also responsible for the design of line 3.
