Montpellier Festival: Le printemps des Comédiens

During your stay in Montpellier, after our French language courses, you will surely want to experience French culture! Our city is perfect for that, between museums, exhibitions and festivals, you won't know where to turn! And it's perfect to complete your immersion programme in France as you will speak French outside the classroom!

For a month, dozens of artists from all over France will be giving surprising performances for a very wide audience. Children and adults alike will laugh, cry, and feel all kinds of emotions in front of shows that deal with many aspects of our daily lives.

What is the "Printemps des Comédiens"?
Born in 1987, the "Printemps des Comédiens" Festival has progressively become one of the most important festivals of international theatrical creation in France.

In the heart of the Occitanie region, the "Printemps des Comédiens" Festival welcomes the most important productions in Europe. Each year, the programme includes the greatest masters of the international stages, but also emerging artists and major European theatre schools, thus positioning itself as one of the most important places for creation, production and training of the public and artists in Montpellier, notably with its Campus programme, developed in 2021.

Directed by Jean Varela since 2011, the festival welcomes each year in June, in the fields of theatre and live performance, nearly 45 shows, 130 performances and nearly 40,000 spectators.

The festival is deliberately accessible to all, both in terms of its artistic line and its pricing policy, and each year it offers a diverse choice of universes, genres and origins. Based on the values of transmission and training, the festival is involved with audiences "far" from culture, notably through the "Printemps des Collégiens".

What are the dates of the festival?
In 2023, the Festival will take place from 1 to 21 June 2023.

Where does the festival take place?
The Printemps des Comédiens is held at the Domaine d'O in Montpellier, located at 178 Rue de la Carrierasse (easily accessible by car, tram, bus and bicycle).

How much does a ticket cost for a show?
