Activity programme from 13 to 19 February 2023

Come and live a complete experience with us thanks to our French courses, our accommodation and our weekly cultural programme! Every week we offer a great programme: between city tours, yoga (ashtanga) classes and excursions, our students never see the time pass! And in French, of course!

Monday 13 February

12.30pm-2.00pm: Educational tutoring
Do you want to work independently or do your homework with the possibility of using a French teacher? This tutoring is for you! In a dedicated room, our resource centre, you can read or work in peace. A trainer will be available to answer any questions you may have.

2.00pm-3.30pm: Guided city tour of Montpellier
Relive the prodigious rise and exceptional destiny that Montpellier has forged for itself over the centuries. A journey of a thousand years along the alleys of the historic centre to let you experience the very special atmosphere of the Ecusson.

6pm-7.30pm: Yoga class
Ashtanga Yoga is characterised by the sequence of postures (Asana) punctuated by the Ujjayi breath, chest breathing associated with different points of concentration. The postures follow each other quite quickly. This yoga is at first a very complete physical practice, becoming progressively a way of interiority when the practitioner acquires experience.
Price: 70€ for a card of 6 classes

Tuesday 14 February

1.30pm-3.00pm : Macaroon tasting
The Montpellier macaroon is a real local institution, come and discover this delicious biscuit with us! You will also have the chance to visit the production workshop which is usually closed to the public. Made from a traditional recipe - without cream or ganache - using organic and gluten-free products, the recipe will hold no secrets for you!

6pm-9pm: Cooking class with Les Ateliers d'Arthur
Come and discover traditional French home cooking with Sandrine and her team. In each class, participants will create a menu of starters, main course and dessert with fresh seasonal products, which they will enjoy together afterwards with a glass of wine.

7pm-8.30pm: Yoga class

2.00pm-3.30pm: Visit to the Kley student residence
You would like to live in a student residence, but you don't know which one to choose? Come and discover our partner residence! It offers you comfortable studios, but also many common rooms: kitchen, lounge, table football, TV room, music room, billiard room, laundry, study room, work spaces and a roof terrace of more than 100m2! This is the dream place for any student in Montpellier!

Thursday 16 February

1.45pm-6.00pm : Excursion to Saint Guilhem le Désert
Only 1 hour's drive from Montpellier, discover St Guilhem-le-Désert, a typical Languedoc village, a stopover on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela (classified as a World Heritage site by UNESCO), a village classified as one of the "most beautiful villages in France" with only 300 inhabitants but more than 1 million tourists every year. You will discover its prestigious religious past, with its thousand-year-old Romanesque church housing the relics of St Guilhem, Charlemagne's first cousin, and a piece of the true cross of Jesus Christ.

12.30pm-2.00pm: Educational workshop “Wine and cheese”
Would you like to practice your French after class and meet other students from the school? We invite you every week to participate in our pedagogical workshop.

1.30pm-6.00pm : Excursion - Pic Saint Loup hiking and wine tasting
Discover the favourite mountain of Montpellier, easy and magnificent, you will be surrounded by beautiful Mediterranean vegetation and will reach the summit to discover undoubtedly the most panoramic view of the region. A bottle of water and sports shoes are required. Tasting of Pic St Loup wine. Hike 2-3h approximately. Medium level.

2.00pm-3.30pm: Administrative tutoring
This tutorial is for students on a long stay with us. Do you need to open a bank account in France? Do you want to study at university after your French course with us? Would you like to have health insurance? Daria will introduce you to the most common administrative procedures for your installation in France.

Saturday 18 February

Morning suggestion: Marché des Arceaux, organic and local products

9.00am - 6.00pm : Excursion to Uzès and Avignon
First we will visit Uzès, first of all the St Etienne cathedral and its Romanesque tower in the Italian style. Then we will discover the historic centre and its Place aux Herbes. Finally we will pass in front of the duke's castle and the house of the famous writer Racine, free time to eat in the city (very nice market on Saturday morning). In the afternoon we will visit Avignon, passing the famous 12th century St Benezet bridge, which is the origin of a famous traditional song. Then we will pass the ramparts to enter the historic centre to discover its medieval streets and the Romanesque cathedral of Notre Dame des Doms. Free time in the city.

2:00pm-6.30pm: Exhibition of paintings "La peinture palpitante" by Carmen Selma
Carmen Selma is a graduate of the Fine Arts (2004) and holds a Master of Visual Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts San Carlos de Valencia (Spain). Carmen Selma is a painter who is entirely devoted to painting. She expresses herself in a committed contemporary style, painting the features of our society. Through her work, the history of her country, its traditions and controversies, are reflected. Fascinated by memory, Carmen likes to delve into the past.

Sunday 19 February

8.30am - 6.00pm : Excursion to Marseille
The first port and capital of the French Mediterranean, Marseille is a magnificent city between the Camargue, the Alps and the French Riviera. We will go up to visit the Basilica of Notre Dame de la Garde, a 19th century neo-Byzantine church, a pilgrimage of the Marseillais nicknamed the Good Mother. The view of the city and the castle of If, the famous Count of Monte Cristo, is exceptional. Then we will walk along the Old Port to discover the Roman Dock Museum and the narrow streets of the Panier district. We will finish the visit of the district by the Old Charity. We will then visit the Notre Dame de la Major Cathedral which has one of the highest domes in the world. Combining Roman and Oriental styles, it is a real treasure with Byzantine arches, white marble and beautiful mosaics inside. Finally we will end our day at Fort St John and its towers which guard the entrance to the city's port. The view of the port is magnificent.
